Located in central Taiwan, DaYuLing was once the highest tea-growing region globally, with its peak reaching 2700 meters above sea level. However, since 2015, the Taiwanese government, citing environmental concerns, has undertaken deforestation and prohibited the cultivation of new tea gardens, leading to a significant reduction in yield, with only about 2000 kilograms produced annually. DaYuLing tea boasts a unique flavor profile, coupled with the trend of decreasing production year by year, earning it the reputation of Taiwan’s highest quality and most expensive high mountain tea.
The “88K” tea garden is one of the best-managed farms in the DaYuLing region. Tea leaves are harvested only in spring and winter, with organic fertilizer (peanut meal) applied in February, April, and August each year. The continuous and adequate application of organic fertilizer aids in the growth of tea trees in low-temperature environments, ensuring stable and superior tea leaf quality.
